The Cabbage Soup Diet: A Rapid Weight Loss Plan For Sure; But Is It Safe?

There are a lot of rapid weight loss diets and fasting programs out there. One of the better known ones is called the cabbage soup diet. According to the designers of this particular diet, the more you eat of this special cabbage soup (which is purported to help you burn fat), the more weight you will lose.
It is also an extremely restrictive diet in the sense that you can only eat a very limited number of foods when you are on it, and these foods change on a daily basis. And therein lies the rub, as the old saying goes. If you lose weight on a diet like this one, are you losing weight because of the cabbage soup that supposedly helps you to burn fat, or are you actually experiencing the rapid weight loss because when you are on this diet you are eating such a limited number of foods in such strange combinations?
How would you ever be able to tell? There are books on the subject and online forums for people on this diet, and as is true of almost any diet you can find, there are people who swear by it and feel that this eating plan is the best thing that ever happened to them. But there is another problem with eating plans like this one: a diet this strange that has so many odd restrictions and combinations really sucks all the joy and pleasure out of eating.
And another question that comes to mind with so many of these rapid weight loss regimens or fast diets (including this one), is this: How safe is it? Is it safe to lose so much weight so quickly? And of course the next question that naturally arises is this: What happens when an individual goes off the Cabbage Diet (or any other rapid or fast diet)? Do they gain all the weight back (and then some) as a result of toying with their metabolisms and sending themselves into virtual starvation mode?
The bottom line is that this particular rapid weight loss diet seems extremely unsafe, and the effects are almost definitely not going to last, which what dieters typically find most frustrating. People who are dieting want eating regimens they can live with for the long haul, not a temporary quick fix that is going to starve them and screw with their metabolisms. You will want to conduct your own research on this diet, read what people who have tried it have to say (both the good and the bad). But please think long and hard about actually giving it a try. Remember, safety first!
