The F.A.S.T Diet: Tony Dean’s Weight Loss Program

Another fast diet we will be looking at on this website is actually called the F.A.S.T. diet. Tony Dean was an overweight man who worked as a team with several of his family members, who were also overweight, to lose a great deal of weight. As a matter of fact, they collectively lost over 500 pounds following the plan that they developed. As the title implies, the F.A.S.T. diet (also known as the Families Always Succeed Together diet) focuses on family teamwork and family team spirit.
Together they worked to eat healthier food, exercise more, and, most important of all, hold one another accountable for their eating and exercising behavior. Best of all, it worked! Why did it work so well? For starters, they were not going for rapid weight loss, because they understood that when it comes to dieting, slow and steady always wins the race.
And what they were all striving for was permanent (not short term) weight loss. They also understood that the best way to achieve this goal of permanent weight loss was to make some fundamental changes in the way they were living their lives (i.e., they recognized that they needed to eat healthier foods and fewer calories and that they all needed to exercise much more).
They feel that the key to their success was the fact that they all supported and encouraged one another to achieve their weight loss goals. One of the reasons so many dieters fail to achieve (and maintain) their goals is that they feel so alone in their struggle. But when people harness the collective power of family love, they feel empowered and much stronger, emotionally speaking, than they feel when they try to “go it alone.”
The members of the Dean family were so excited about their success as a family that they decided to spread the word by writing a book called The F.A.S.T. Diet, in which they outline exactly how they managed to harness their power as a family in order to lose the weight and keep it off permanently.
After all, people know the steps they need to follow in order to lose weight. In a nutshell, people who want to lose weight need to eat less and exercise more. But knowing what you need to do in order to achieve your goals and feeling the emotional support that you require in order to do so are two very different things. And as it turns out, people need both components (the knowledge and the emotional support) in order to achieve lasting weight loss success.
