Hydroxycut Fast Diet: The May 2009 FDA Recall

Hydroxycut is a well know weight loss supplement. Many people seeking a fast diet are looking to lose weight quickly. (Of course, they would also like to keep the weight off once they have lost it, but initially they worry most about getting the weight off, figuring that they will worry about a weight loss maintenance plan.) In this quest for rapid weight loss, they often turn to diet pills of one kind or another. Many diet pills, including Hydroxycut, have traditionally been available over the counter. But how safe and effective are they? It ALWAYS pays to do your due diligence so that you can be an educated consumer. So what do experts and laypeople have to say about this particular fast diet weight loss aid?
Well, at this moment, the news about Hydroxycut is not particularly good: FDA Recalls Hydroxycut Products. According to numerous articles that have been published in the wake of the recall of these particular fast diet products, it appears that Hydroxycut is alleged to have caused liver problems and other health issues in a small but still notable number of users. The FDA also attributes one death to the use of a Hydroxycut product. These particular weight loss supplements were previously extremely popular among both dieters seeking a fast diet and bodybuilders seeking to reduce fat and build lean body mass simultaneously.
Some people are unhappy with this relatively recent recall because they have been quite pleased with Hydroxycut products. Remember, only a small number of people have reported being adversely affected by these products in any way. Nonetheless, the FDA officials contend that with such matters it is always better to be safe than sorry. After all, even if an individual has been lucky so far with regard to their Hydroxycut usage, it is always possible that they could develop health problems, including liver damage, at some point down the road. Hydrocitric acid, one of the active ingredients in Hydroxycut, might be the culprit, but researchers are not 100% certain that this is the case. Regardless, the FDA decision has been made and it is not likely to be reversed any time soon.
